The Wicked Alternative
If there's one positive thing (emphasis on the 'one' because it's mostly negative for all of us) this pandemic and being quarantined for months has done for me is that it has forced me to go on an involuntary soul-searching journey. It made me look at my life as a whole and re-evaluate each and every aspect of it- my family, my relationships, my health, my ambitions, my interests, and even my path as a blogger.
For as long as I could remember, I've always considered the internet as a safe haven for me. Starting out on MySpace where I would rave about my favorite rock bands to DeviantArt and Tumblr where I transitioned to sharing photos that spoke to my personality. These early types of 'blogging' have been a way for me to talk about my interests, express how I feel, and release my energy into the world wide web.
Fast-forward to 2013, what started out as a stepping-stone for me to expand my opportunities as a writer and share parts of my personal style, like many others, I unexpectedly turned this little outlet of mine into a career.
For the past 7 years, this particular website (and I along with it) was known as the Girl About Town. Managing this blog and having this online persona has opened me up to some of the most exciting moments of my life and if you've been an avid follower of this blog, you've been witness to them.
While I will always cherish the past 7 years as being the Girl About Town, I felt like I was quickly losing sight of why I started blogging in the first place. Even though it will not be easy to let go of something I spent so long trying to build and start all over again, it has opened my eyes to help me see what I want to do with my life and my future.
I feel like I'm in a much better place emotionally and mentally (though I still have lapses here and there), I finally initiated the start of a small business I've always dreamed of having, and as for my blog? I've decided to come back at it as a full-time passion project of mine, sharing with you my undying love for fashion, beauty, travel, and so much more while incorporating my soul and my personality in it's entirety into it- something I failed to do during my first go at it.
So here's to new chapters and rebirths in our lives amidst one of the darkest moments of our world. May everything shine bright for all of us from here on out!
