My 5 Self-Care Activities for Coping with the COVID-19 Pandemic

Image
The COVID-19 pandemic has shook the entire world to it's core in the most unimaginable ways and as a result, abruptly changed our way of life. I'm sure most of us have been feeling stressed and overwhelmed by these sudden changes to our lifestyle, accompanied by the seemingly endless outpour of bad news. However, as humans, it is vital that we learn to adapt and try our best to cope with it. Now, I'm not saying that the virus is something we should accept as a permanent fixture in our society. Despite what some world leaders would like you to believe, it is still a very real threat we must work at daily to try and eliminate but until the day comes that we can finally bid farewell to it for good, it is important for us to try our best to not only survive it physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.  Connecting and keeping in touch with family and friends is probably my favorite way of coping and distracting myself from the internal distress this pandemic has caused. ...

The Wicked Alternative

Image
If there's one positive thing (emphasis on the 'one' because it's mostly negative for all of us) this pandemic and being quarantined for months has done for me is that it has forced me to go on an involuntary soul-searching journey. It made me look at my life as a whole and re-evaluate each and every aspect of it- my family, my relationships, my health, my ambitions, my interests, and even my path as a blogger.  For as long as I could remember, I've always considered the internet as a safe haven for me. Starting out on MySpace where I would rave about my favorite rock bands to DeviantArt and Tumblr where I transitioned to sharing photos that spoke to my personality. These early types of 'blogging' have been a way for me to talk about my interests, express how I feel, and release my energy into the world wide web.  Fast-forward to 2013, what started out as a stepping-stone for me to expand my opportunities as a writer and share parts of my personal style, lik...

Beauty Shots to Love

Image
I love posing for beauty shots so when I get an invitation and my schedule allows it, I usually say yes. So I had one just recently with photographer Ronald Matanguihan at the Philippine Center for Creative Imaging (PCCI) . You would think that a beauty shoot is the kind you least need to prepare for because the photos are only from head to shoulder. That means there is no need to worry about your body being in shape and the clothes looking good on you, right? Post processing evened my skin tone, smoothened my hair, and took out the dark circles under my eyes. :) Well, yes but then again, beauty shots can actually be very unforgiving because they zoom in right at your face and skin and show all your imperfections! Hello, pores! Hi there, blemishes! Of course hardly anything ever gets printed in magazines without extensive post-processing. I refer to the magic of Photoshop which can make virtually every one look flawless!   But if you don't like to look ...

FIBA Asia 2013, Superdry, and My Beloved Shitzupoodle's 1st Birthday

Image
What do those three things have to do with one another? They were the highlights of my weekend, that's what! This beautiful denim jacket and black baseball cap from SUPERDRY kept me warm and dry despite last night's inclement weather. (More outfit details below and photos below) I had so wanted to watch the FIBA Asia 2013 games live at the Mall of Asia Arena . Afterall, how often do we get to host such a prestigious sports event in Metro Manila ? Plus! Of course, I also wanted to do my share in showing support for our national team, Team Gilas Pilipinas !  Alas, we couldn't get a hold of tickets so we settled for the next best thing which was to watch at a place where other Filipino fans congregated in support of the Gilas boys. There's something about watching the games with a room full of screaming, cheering, clapping fans that make the game more exhilarating to watch. Red hoodie on Nicco, denim jacket and black baseball cap on me, all from SU...
